The company had recently entered into a joint venture with a global automotive company and were keen to improve efficiency.
Challenge
Our client was facing significant capacity, environmental and quality issues. These issues where principally attributable to the aging communist era facilities and infrastructure.
Linea was engaged to devise a new logistics strategy.
Approach
Review the current operation and facilities
Interview the key stakeholders to understand the issues they face.
Categorise and prioritise key issues and understand stakeholder expectations.
Design an undercover Vehicle Distribution Compound (VDC) to address the current issues.
Develop an associated logistics strategy to improve the operational process and instil best practice.
Prepare a business case to obtain funding and building approval.
Outcome
Project delivered on-time and under budget, ready for new vehicle launch.
Undercover and external storage space increased by 200% and 300% respectively.
20% improvement in efficiency and substantially improved winter working conditions for compound staff.
Transport and storage damage significantly reduced and in many cases mitigated.
“This was a very challenging project, with numerous political and environmental challenges to manage. Linea’s automotive expertise enabled us to significantly improve storage capacity and operational efficiency.” Logistics Director – Finished Vehicles
